AUTHORIZED VISA FOR CITIZENS FROM RESTRICTED COUNTRIES

Citizens from certain countries require special authorization in order to be able to enter Panama.

Restricted countries include: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Virgin Islands US, Yemen, Zambia

Requirements:

  • Application must be done at least 60 days before travels

  • All documents must be translated in Spanish and apostilled or notarized

  • Application form and power of attorney

  • Valid passport + 2 color copies of complete passport

  • 4 passport photos

  • 2 Color copies of national ID or residence card

  • 2 Color copies of second ID

  • Proof of finances showing at least US$500

  • Proof of income (employment letter, pension documents etc)

  • Booked flights showing return/exit flight

  • Hotel reservation or invitation letter from person or company in Panama

  • Copies of any previously approved immigration permits issued by Panama

Invitation letter from person in Panama:

  • Copy of ID, passport or residence card

  • Copy of utility bill showing proof of address

  • Letter of employment showing salary

  • Bank reference letter

Invitation letter from company in Panama:

  • Letter of responsibility from the entity’s legal representative

  • Copy of utility bill showing address of company

  • Proof of financial solvency, whether by bank certification or income tax declaration, from the people responsible of the applicant’s visit

  • Certificate from the Public Registry and commercial license for private companies

Exceptions: Citizens meeting any of the following are exempt

  • Have a residence or tourist visa issued by the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Northern Ireland or European Union countries

  • The residence or tourist visa must be valid for at least 6 months, must be for multiple entries and must have been used to visit the country

The cost: 

  • Applicant - $5000

The process:  

  • The application with all requirements must be submitted 60 days before your travel date.  The Panama Immigration Service has full discretion and may approve or decline the application.   If approved, the applicant will have a limited time to visit Panama as a tourist (15-30 days)
